LONDON, 15 July 2025 -- KCLSU President-Elect Baiyu Liu spearheaded the International Bing Xin Literature Award ceremony, taking a leading role in conceiving and organising the event, which attracted visitors from across the world.
President-Elect Liu acted as the guide and translator to Professor Abdulrazak Gurnah FRSL, author of award-winning novels Paradise and By the Sea, among others.
The ceremony included an on-stage dialogue between Professor Ananya Jahanara Kabir FBA of King's College London and Professor Gurnah.
President-Elect Liu said:
"I was delighted to be given the opportunity to represent King's as President Elect of the Students' Union to introduce Professor Kabir and Professor Gurnah to Chinese literary giants. They discussed the situation in the Indian Ocean region with the Chinese academics, authors and committee members of the various Chinese literature associations of Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen, especially in regards to the importance of mutual cooperation and bridge building between China and the West."
"The strong worldwide interest in this ceremony shows KCL's place as the pre-eminent Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions ("MICE") venue in London. This Administration will continue to facilitate meaningful events that further students' learning."
