President-Elect Baiyu Liu meets with Chair-Elect of Democracy Committee of LSESU

LONDON, 23 May 2025 -- KCLSU President-Elect Baiyu Liu met with Mr. James Li, the incoming Chair of the Democracy Committee at the London School of Economics Students' Union ("LSESU") in Strand, to discuss opportunities for inter-university cooperation, their joint commitment to student democracy, and providing a more inclusive learning environment for all students.

President-Elect Liu stressed the importance of democracy on campus and lawful freedom of speech; the strong bonds between students at KCL and LSE; and the longstanding relationship between the two students' unions. Chair-Elect Li presented Mr. Liu with a plush toy of a beaver, the mascot of LSE, as a tribute to the strong friendship between the two students' unions, on behalf of the LSESU.

Mr. Liu gained great insights on the works of LSESU and its strong support for their students. He encouraged Mr. Li to continue LSESU's strong legacy. He praised Mr. Li's campaign and comprehensive manifesto and congratulated him on his election victory.

President-Elect Baiyu Liu said:

"We are neighbours-in-arms on the other side of Strand. Our close cooperation will be monumental for the mutual benefit of students in both institutions. I look forward to a meaningful relationship with leaders of all students' unions and stakeholders across London so I can deliver on my manifesto commitments and benefit students both at King's College London and across London"

Chair-Elect James Li said:

"A very constructive talk about collaboration between KCL and LSE. I wish our LSE students could enjoy every opportunities at different universities."
